Job Description

The Senior Business Analyst will assist the Brand Technology Solutions organization, specifically supporting our US Commercial Oncology organization, to plan and implement the technology to support launch and on-market therapies that will drive our commercial business and create a remarkable impact on people's lives.

The Senior Business Analyst is one of the main technology focal points for the Integrated Brand Team and works with the Brand Technology Lead to enable the brand strategies through technology. An Integrated Brand Team is a cross functional team that strategizes to deliver patient-centric, multi-stakeholder focused strategies and tactics for our brands.

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the execution of the brand strategy through various data, integration and technology projects. He/she will forge relationships within the Oncology Marketing team to support achievement of critical milestones by tracking key projects and initiatives and coordinate team responses to critical issues. He/she is responsible for planning and overseeing multiple projects at once from ideation to completion; including helping secure cross-functional alignment on project scope, benefits, cost, and timeline. He/she is expected to work effectively across various IT Shared Services teams, external third-party service providers, and other Commercial business stakeholders. He/she ensures teams are following corporate and divisional policies and procedures related to systems development, systems support and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
• Manages digital/technology projects both internal and external stakeholders, cross-functional teams and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction.
• Independently manage the day to day activities of small to medium complexity projects. This includes managing project timelines, tracking deliverables & milestones, providing status communications and setting expectations of a cross-functional team involved in project delivery.
• Works effectively with team/group to accomplish organizational goals. Actively participates in team meetings by offering suggestions.
• Monitors and organizes the efforts of technical and business support staff. Guides the efforts of less experienced staff. Conducts training.
• Oversee both validated and non-validated projects. Responsible for software lifecycle documentation and compliance with AbbVie Policies and Procedures.
• Applies analytical thinking skills to diagnose and make recommendations on systems. Incorporates knowledge of business and technology to make recommendations; ensures the system design fits the needs of the users.
• Translates data gathered from user discussions into business requirements. Identifies business/system needs and recommends solutions. Assists with the testing strategies and develops preliminary findings.
• Writes or reviews specification documents, guides vendors on system and data integration design and architecture, and documents complex business processes.
• Analyzes processes and needs and makes recommendations that are most effective means to satisfy those needs. Analyses the most complex work procedures and job methods and presents concepts to simplify those procedures.
• Assess and identify of improvement in existing processes, determine when problems arise from process and present alternatives to solve those problems.
• Determines approach and solution to problem when issue is within scope of own ability. Develops solutions to problems where relationships can be identified, and precedents exist.
• Execute processes in compliance rich environments and document actions. Determine when exceptions to the process should be allowed and seeks out clarification.


  • Bachelors degree plus 5 years technical experience, or Masters degree plus 4 years experience.

  • Experience with managing technology and/or digital marketing projects
  • Experience with data integration projects or care coordination platforms.
  • Knowledge of terminology, processes, practices and procedures in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience working on mobile development and/or web application projects.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and health data compliance best practices.
  • Proficient in project management practices, portfolio review, finance and budgeting.
