We Are Genetic Navigators bringing together passionate, creative and dedicated professionals to join a rapidly-growing startup on our mission to translate novel genetic insights into lifesaving medicines. We are integrating human genetics and functional genomics to decode the mysteries of genetic modifiers, leading us to new medicines we'll develop for a range of severe diseases.

We are seeking an experienced Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) leader who will partner with the leadership team, functional heads, and project teams to guide the growth of the company. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this position will build and lead the FP&A function for Maze. This is a unique opportunity to join a private stage, high profile company and build the FP&A processes, systems, and team from the beginning. This team will own the annual budget process, long range plan and updating forecasts as needed, as well as establishing the vision for FP&A at Maze to be much broader than static budgeting. The individual will provide strategic analysis on portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, time to value inflection points and other critical decision support analyses as we continue our growth.

Your Role in Navigating the Maze:
  • Provide strategic financial advice to the project teams by partnering to develop development plans, scenario modeling, cost tradeoffs, key vendor selections and other decision support analyses
  • Build internal processes and structure for budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning, including selection and implementation of FP&A system
  • Lead reporting timely and accurately to monitor monthly financial changes, headcount, forecast, capital expense tracking, and other financial reporting
  • Collaborate regularly with accounting team to ensure alignment between budget and actuals, including allocations, coding, and variance reporting
  • Prepare regular financial analysis reports, present findings to senior leadership and aid in preparation to Board Meetings
  • The role is an individual contributor initially but will expand as Maze grows and will responsible for recruiting, building and leading the FP&A function over time

Your Navigation Tools:

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business. MBA, CPA or CMA is highly preferred
  • 7-10 years in a finance role in life sciences, with at least 4 years in an FP&A centered role; R&D experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in developing forecasting models, ad hoc analytical modeling and experience with financial planning systems
  • Proven experience serving as a business partner to departments and senior leadership
  • An innate ability to build relationships that will enable you to understand your customer's need and communicate important financial guidelines in a clear manner
  • Detail oriented, solution driven with excellent written and verbal communication analytical, and presentation skills
  • A service oriented and collaboration focused disposition with the desire to improve efficiency and effectiveness through process improvements
