We are looking for you to guide the evolution of our data warehouse capabilities in order to meet the growing scale and complexity challenges in what we deliver. You will lead the building a data warehouse that is laser focused on PacBio's commercial and product data that will support data driven decisions and outcomes. Requires a strong understanding of the intersection between business, analytics, and engineering resulting in a proactive approach, focusing on reusable solutions, to improve efficiency and time to insight.

Responsibilities
  • Lead solution and scoping to provide detailed designs for data architecture and data models to meet the needs of the Analytics, Marketing, Product, and Operations teams.
  • Design logical and conceptual data models and schemas to transform our current data environment into a competitive asset.
  • Help drive the design, prototype, implementation, and scale of cloud data platforms to tackle business needs.
  • Partner with Analytics teams to develop data stores for visualization tools.
  • Experience developing ETL pipelines
  • Consultative skills to establish relationships across the functions in the organization.
  • Work with cross functional teams to prototype new concepts and deliver end-to-end systems in a sprint based agile setting
  • Define and institute best practices in data warehouse storage, governance, processing, copy/synchronization, lifecycle management, etc. appropriate to the scale and maturity of our products
  • Provide recommendations and be actively involved in enterprise system integration when applicable.


Key Qualifications
  • 8+ years professional experience with the practical application of data warehousing concepts, methodologies, including data warehouse technical architecture, infrastructure, and ETL/ELT modeling
  • Strong experience designing SQL queries to extract data, validate, and analyze data from a data warehouse. Experience data profiling, business process modeling, or system analysis a plus
  • Experience with Snowflake or similar data stores
  • Experience developing a to-be data architecture and implementation roadmap in a lead data architect role on one or more projects.
  • Experience evaluating and selecting data warehouse technology.
  • Experience integrating data involving multiple external sources (e.g. Google), on-prem systems (SAP) and cloud systems (SalesForce).
  • Experience with various distributed data transformation technologies including Elasticsearch & Kafka.
  • Experience with platform approaches to data architecture at scale and supporting data science teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, including inter-departmental teams
  • Experience in one of the following visualization tools Qlik Sense, Tableau, or other data visualization experience a plus
  • Advanced skills using one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, etc.) a plus
  • Experience applying data encryption and data security standards

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or other Engineering field strongly desired
