Century's foundational technology is built on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) that have unlimited self-renewing capacity. This enables complex cellular engineering to produce controlled cell banks of modified cells that can be expanded and differentiated into desired immune effector cells, which can supply vast amounts of allogeneic, homogeneous therapeutic products. This platform differentiates Century from other approaches that utilize non-renewable donor-derived cells.


Century is looking for a motivated and independent researcher to advance the growing and promising field of cell therapy to treat cancer. This individual will have hands-on experience in iPSC culture techniques and differentiation methodologies. The ideal candidate will advance our universal iPSC-derived allogeneic cell products for targeting solid tumors. She/He will be responsible for utilizing existing cell engineering methodologies for iPSC gene editing to support cell therapy efforts. She/He will work closely with scientists within the group and collaborate with other functional groups at the different Century sites to achieve company-aligned goals. This position is based in our Hamilton, Ontario laboratory.

  • Differentiate iPSCs into cell types relevant to program-specific cell therapies and maintain iPSC-derived progenitors and terminally differentiated cells in long-term culture
  • Continually assess iPSC-derived cells by cell-type-specific marker expression & functional characterization
  • Rapidly iterate cell culture protocols and align iPSC platform across research labs at Century
  • Coordinate testing and integration of protocol improvements with the other members of the research team
  • Provide high-quality, specialized iPSC-derived cells to other scientists working on target validation and therapeutic screening for proof-of-concept studies
  • Maintain accurate records of research and deliver scientific presentations and reports internally to interdisciplinary teams
  • Foster a collaborative and scientifically rigorous team culture

  • PhD in Immunology, cell biology or similar field, and +3 years of relevant postdoctoral or industry experience in iPSC biology

  • Extensive hands-on mammalian cell culture experience is essential
  • Hands-on experience maintaining iPSCs cultures and knowledge of iPSC differentiation protocols
  • Strong experience in primary immune cell culture and analysis by multi-color flow cytometry along with cell sorting experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in genome editing technologies using CRISPR-Cas9 and/or CRISPR-Cpf1 is a plus
  • Proven track record of scientific accomplishments demonstrated by publications in high impact journals
