Avidity Bioscience's Alliance & Program Management Department is growing as the company transitions into its next horizon. We are building infrastructure in a fit-for-purpose manner to solidify the discipline of Program and Project Management within the company. This position will support the successful operational aspects of our early research and development programs as new processes are created to support our team's success in developing medicines for patients with unmet medical needs. In collaboration with internal functional leaders and scientific subject matter experts, this role will integrate scientific and business priorities to drive effective execution of the program deliverables. Additionally, the project manager will play a critical role in the resource and financial management as well as forecasting of individual projects on an ongoing basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a project leadership figure to monitor and drive research and development projects in a timely manner
  • Apply scientific knowledge and understanding to collaborate with interdepartmental counterparts to streamline processes and deliverables
  • Facilitate and drive communication within a matrix organization and across all project stakeholders
  • Support risk management by identifying gaps and bottlenecks, analyzing critical path activities, and building scenarios so that decisions can be made swiftly and efficiently
  • Facilitate meetings, produce timely minutes, and follow up on action items
  • Collaborate with departmental leadership to review and reconcile project budgets as well as proactively participate in routine tracking and review meetings
  • Partner with scientists to manage CRO relationships, contractual adherence, and progress of outsourced activities
  • Manage scope change-related contract process in alignment with business objectives and legal parameters
  • Compile and communicate timely and consistent project reports, dashboards, and other sources of program summaries
  • Guide and collaborate with scientific leadership in preparation for project reviews
  • Perform assigned tasks independently using good judgment and expertise

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • BS or BA in a scientific discipline; an advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2-4 years relevant project and/or portfolio management experience
  • Prior experience in biologics highly preferred
  • Prior experience with Antisense Oligonucleotide, Antibody Drug Conjugate, siRNA, and/or rare disease highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and key project decisions in a matrix environment without authority
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and timelines in a fast-paced, rapid-growth environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and contractors to drive results and meet company objectives
  • Prior experience collaborating with and/or overseeing CROs and external vendors
  • Ability to function independently and exercise good judgement, as well as ability to work well in a team-based environment
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in standard Project Management tools, and practices including MS Project, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead others through change
