Position Summary:

Global Blood Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support and be a part of the IT Project Management Office (PMO), reporting into the IT organization. The GBT IT PMO is responsible for coordinating internal cross-functional activities and managing all projects and programs of IT systems across the Commercial, R&D and G&A portfolio from inception to delivery. The Senior Project Manager will be expected to apply project management best practices in the development, initiation, planning, execution, control and closing of all projects.

The ideal candidate will be a driven individual with strong communication skills and the ability to manage aggressive timelines, competing priorities, and challenging stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for overall project management, coordination, execution, and financials for the projects
  • End-to-end execution oversight for all project deliverables related to the Commercial, R&D and G&A IT systems of the company
  • Demonstrates innovation, flexibility, open-mindedness, and adaptability in order to meet objectives in a rapidly changing environment with shifting priorities issues
  • Demonstrates effective Project Management skills through the development of project plans, resource allocation, plan execution, consistent communications with project team members and stakeholders, status reviews, and delivery of agreed upon results
  • Work closely with business functions and ensure alignment to timelines, cost and deliverables
  • Responsible for managing the end-to-end project or program lifecycle for multiple complex initiatives and meet the required business objectives in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to conceptualize Projects or Programs from start to finish to effectively manage and keep initiative on schedule while adapting to sudden changes and shifting priorities
  • Creates and motivates cross-functional & cross-departmental project teams, establishes roles and responsibilities, provides direction, fosters effective team skills, and ensures that project objectives are reached on time and within budget
  • Ability to complete multiple, simultaneous projects with minimal supervision and prioritize incoming work appropriately
  • Ability to integrate/rollup multiple Projects within a broad program
  • Identifies the need for and creates/implements improvements to continuously improve the Project Management Service capabilities in the organization
  • Identifies, implements and champions the use of new value-added techniques and process improvements to help better the Project Management service
  • Ability to deal with unstructured, complex projects or programs that will require effective communication and negotiation skills in order to define and gain agreement on appropriate actions
  • Delivers cost-effective, high quality projects or programs on-time through application of PM guidelines, standards, best practices and effective controls while meeting requisite compliance requirements (Sarbanes-Oxley, GxP etc.,)
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for all communications within IT, business teams, and any third party involved in the Project or Program - effectively communicates relevant information to key stakeholders as per a defined communications plan







  • Experience of 6-9+ years in leading complex projects
  • 10+ years of industry experience in commercial Biotech, Pharma or Life Sciences Company
  • Experience with full software development life cycle in regulated environment (FDA, GxP, HIPAA, SOX, GDPR and other data privacy, computer system validation, a plus)
  • PMP certification or equivalent is preferred
  • Experience in Agile methodologies, validation & delivery
  • Experience in organizational change management preferred
  • Expertise using Project Management software to build timelines and manage resources, risks, and costs
  • Excellent written, communication and organizational skills are required
