Grad Intern - OPS (Pivotal Drug Product)
  • Sustained release drug product and device development for subcutaneous administration of Amgen's biologics pipeline

Let's do this. Let's change the world. During this program you will be define formulations, manufacturing processes, and devices for some of the Amgen top pipeline products for subcutaneous delivery that can save patient's life.

Key responsibilities would be:
  • Perform literature surveys and compile the competitive landscape of subcutaneous and sustained administration of biologics
  • Perform technical assessment of Amgen's prior knowledge of formulation, drug product manufacturing processes and subcutaneous delivery devices
  • Perform technical assessment of existing biologic portfolio and their suitability for subcutaneous and sustained administration
  • Perform the technical assessment of existing analytical method/lab capabilities with respect to subcutaneous and sustained product development
  • Design the formulation and device space for Amgen's pipeline products
  • Author and review technical assessments and study protocols
  • Participate in team meetings by sharing study designs, results and technical challenges
  • Present the business case for subcutaneous product development to Amgen's Drug Product senior leadership team and get their endorsements

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Completion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and currently enrolled in a Master's program for a Masters internship OR PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university

Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

Pursing PhD with degree concentration(s) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering or related field

Publication experience

Practice in formulation and drug delivery

Knowledge of subcutaneous formulation/device design

Strong technical writing and presentation skills

Understanding of antibody formulation/ability

Experience with technical assessment of analytical methods
