Sr. Maintenance Technician


What you will do

In this vital role you will, under limited supervision, supervise and operate equipment, utility, and HVAC systems in accordance with established guidelines, preventive maintenance requirements, and operating procedures. Conduct intermediate troubleshooting and employ sophisticated predictive technologies to identify root cause and appropriate corrective actions to diagnose or avert equipment problems. This role will be supporting a non-standard shift organization including weekend's shifts as part of the regular working schedule reporting to the Facilities & Engineering (F&E) department.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Operate and supervise sophisticated plant equipment, with ability to investigate, repair, and report issues or problems with mentorship from more experienced personnel.
  • Assist the team with maintaining an up-to-date working spare parts inventory system for the equipment/systems the team is responsible for.
  • Ensure that operational log paperwork, daily log files, and work order documentation is completed with accurate information.
  • Provide detailed training to the team in order to develop one's knowledge in the maintenance and operations field and other areas of the plant.
  • All work must be completed in accordance with procedures (CFRs, cGMPs, SOPs), job plans and Amgen policies.
  • Support to develop, revise, and review SOPs or job plans/work plans for work related areas.
  • Evaluate the current maintenance procedures and assist in the changes to optimize the maintenance program.
  • Trouble shoot and repair equipment/system failures, like emergency generators, AHU, boilers, chillers, valves, VFDs, air compressors, pumps, etc.
  • Interpret and review utility, process system/ equipment, plumbing, ductwork plans, architectural, and HVAC P&ID's.
  • Provide basic support and/or conduct start-up of new equipment to ensure it meets all mechanical design specifications.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Basic qualifications are:

Associate degree & 4 years' experience in a GMP regulated industry.

High school diploma & 6 years' experience in a GMP regulated industry.

Beyond that, the additional preferred qualifications are:
  • Welding skills, be able to calculate the dimensions to be welded, read blueprints, and interpret sketches.
  • Cogeneration experience, Turbine and Emergency Generators.
  • Knowledgeable of one or more of the following technical areas: Utility Plant Operations/ Maintenance, Process Equipment/ System Maintenance, HVAC Operations/ Maintenance, or Fire System.
  • Good communicate skills both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrate expertise in two or more advanced maintenance technologies and understand how to apply technology to improve equipment reliability (alignment, balancing, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound, electric motor circuit analysis, metrology or vibration monitoring).
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to interact constructively with peers/teams
