Primary Responsibilities:
Execute experiments, either independently or as a team member, including experiments for product claims and regulatory submissions. Work with various pathogenic organisms in BSL-2+ environments. Prepare and manipulate various blood products, including plasma, platelets, and RBC. Develop, optimize, and qualify or validate viral enumeration assays. Perform and appropriately document GLP and notebook studies. Make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results for research experiments as well as GLP studies. Participate in the development and validation of new methods. Maintain laboratory instruments. Document work in a laboratory notebook in an accurate and timely manner. Prepare summaries and present results of data at department and/or project meetings. Maintain familiarity with current scientific literature. Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline Experience working with viruses is desirable Experience with cell culture is desirable Experience working with human blood products is desirable, but not required Experience working in a GLP or similarly regulated environment is desirable. Basic understanding of laboratory procedures, equipment, and computerized data handling Experiences with word processing, spreadsheet and graphic applications are a must Good analytical skills: problem-solving, troubleshooting, innovative Team-oriented Flexible; ability to adapt to changing priorities. Time management skills (schedule, timelines, and task prioritization) Good communication skills (encompasses verbal, written, interpersonal, listening). Attention to detail and accuracy Able to work in a fast-paced environment
