QC Scientist-Automation

We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Scientist to join the Quality Control (QC) Automation Technologies group. The QC Scientist will be responsible for exploring new technologies and developing methods on automated devices to be applied in QC laboratories. In this role you will develop and implement automated laboratory workflows. You will also perform characterization and optimization of automated workflows. This role will involve designing and executing comparability studies between manual workflows and automated workflows as well as providing technical support, guidance and supervision for release, stability, and in-process testing on automated systems. Our team also supports equipment qualification and software validation efforts.

As a QC Scientist, a typical day might include the following:

• Creating automation protocols and methods for automated workflows
• Performing workflow development, comparability studies, and troubleshooting
• Creating and reviewing test procedures for automated workflows
• Evaluating and introducing new methodologies and techniques
• Facilitating automated workflow transfer from R&D and to business partners
• Organizing automated workflow transfer internally and externally
• Participating in technical troubleshooting and problem investigation
• Reviewing analytical development reports and other documents for technical correctness and regulatory compliance for automated workflows
• Developing and participating in training programs for analysts

• Have experience with, or interest in, programming automated liquid handlers (e.g. Hamilton, Tecan, etc.) or similar platforms

• Have a knack for navigating ambiguity and communicating through that ambiguity with a team
• Are open minded, flexible, and can communicate well across all levels of the business

• Are adept at problem solving and identifying root cause
• Continuously drive to improve processes for improved performance

To be considered for this position you must have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field, preferably with experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries. Ideal candidates will have the capacity to learn quickly in a dynamic environment. Experience with programming for automated instruments is a plus. Applicants with a Ph.D. and at least 2 years of related experience may be considered at the Sr QC Scientist level. Level will be determined based on qualifications relevant to the role.
