Work within Research Informatics group to develop web application in C# and Microsoft .Net framework to support scientific workflows. Assist with ad-hoc data processing, application testing and requirements gathering as needed. May use Pipeline Pilot to complement web applications and assist with additional processing tasks. Attend Gilead hosted weekly lunch and learn seminars during internship to learn about process of drug discovery and research. Work on other assigned tasks as required, and present in department near the end of internship.
Essential Functions:
Executes tasks within functional area to support discovery or development project.
Conducts experiments based on a general understanding of lab operations.
Applies independent thinking to suggest resolution to technical issues.
Recognizes fundamental anomalies in data points and identifies issues in experiments.
Presents results in team meetings; results from lab experiments may be used for presentations in scientific conferences.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
Summer Intern at least 18 years old
Undergraduate (or graduate student, if applicable) enrolled in a 4-year accredited university/college; including enrolment in Fall Semester after internship
Computer Science major or other related discipline; have exposure to computer programming, ideally in an Object Oriented Programming language.
Experience with web programming would be a plus.
Independent completion of a stand-alone project a strong plus.
Ability to complete 10-12 consecutive weeks between May and September
