Commercial Strategic Insights (Market Research) - US Liver Disease Business Unit

Senior Manager

This position will lead primary Market Research efforts supporting the Liver Disease business unit including Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C.

Specific Responsibilities and skills for Position

  • Engages with key stakeholders to develop and execute market research to shape the strategies and tactics critical to successfully meet business objectives

  • Manages qualitative and quantitative market research studies, potentially among both healthcare providers as well as consumers including project objective identification, design, vendor selection and oversight, monitoring of data collection, data analysis and interpretation

  • Develops relevant and compelling presentation of market research insights for key stakeholders, including brand leadership and senior management

  • Keeps abreast of key market events and works to understand potential impact

  • Works with diverse counterparts (Commercial and Sales Analytics, Forecasting, Commercial Learning and Development, Global Analytics and Insights, Managed Markets, Brand team), to understand sales and market trends and, as appropriate, recommend corrective courses of action or additional market research to clarify underlying causes

    Essential Functions

  • In-depth experience designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative primary and secondary market research. Demonstrated ability to ramp quickly and acquire in-depth knowledge and experience in a competitive market

  • Strong strategic thinker who understands the critical role of market research in developing commercial strategy in support of in-line products. Ability to operate in ambiguous situations and determine focused objectives and a clear path forward in the face of open questions

  • Strong data analytical and interpretive skills. The ability to meaningfully portray and effectively communicate complex quantitative data in an easy-to-understand format is required

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, influence others, focus, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures and disciplines. Ability to work with a variety of personalities and skill sets

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing both to peers and brand leadership are required

  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment of competing and changing priorities. Must have strong task management skills to include planning, prioritization, objective setting, and meeting management and plan execution

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

  • Travel is 25%

    Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelors degree plus 3-5 years of relevant experience in market research, sales/marketing analysis, statistical analysis, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry. Or Masters, MBA plus 2-3 years relevant experience.

  • Significant experience conducting quantitative and qualitative primary market research is required. Additional experience with secondary market research is preferred. Expertise in a broad range of qualitative and quantitative market research techniques, including appropriate application of data collection and analytic approaches is preferred.

    Preferred Experience:

  • BA/BS degree required. MBA or other advanced degree that is relevant to position is desirable.

  • Experience in life sciences, healthcare, pharmaceutical and biotech industry strongly preferred
