We are seeking a Senior Manager, Medical Affairs to join our team. The Senior Manager, Medical Affairs will provide tactical and operational support for the Medical Affairs team, contributing to the oversight of Xenon products through all phases of development. This role will initially report to the Associate Director, Medical Affairs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide knowledge and understanding of medical and disease terminology to both internal and external audiences
  • Manage medical communications strategies, including congresses and patient and physician engagement
  • Manage internal publications review, consolidating comments and documenting actions taken
  • Contribute to the design, development, planning and execution of advisory boards and steering committee meetings
  • Perform medical literature activities, keeping up to date on current literature, to build scientific platform for internal and external audiences
  • Play a key role in the development and execution of KOL identification strategies
  • Draft and update standard operating procedures, work instructions, or policies as appropriate.
  • Coordinate contracts, consulting agreements and grant terms with Legal and Finance to ensure  compliance with legislation in relevant jurisdictions
  • Coordinate the completion, collection, tracking and archiving of all relevant Medical Affairs documents
  • Plan, propose and manage budget proposals and approved budgets in accordance with the Company’s strategic and operating plans and Finance policies
  • Recruit, lead, direct, develop, coach and evaluate direct reports, if any, in accordance with the Company’s Human Resource policies and practices
  • Act in accordance with Company policies, including, for example, the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and ensure policies are understood and followed by direct reports, if any

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree preferred, (MD, PhD, or PharmD) with minimum 5 years relevant medical communications experience within bio-pharmaceutical industry required; experience as an MSL or in Medical Affairs preferred
  • Experience in neurology preferred, and ideally epilepsy, through clinical experience, biopharmaceutical experience or education
  • Proven strategic thinking and the ability to assimilate and interpret scientific content and translate information for appropriate audience
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams preferred
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically from a medical perspective about how to medically and appropriately support the growth of a company
  • Ability to work on several projects at once while balancing multiple and overlapping timelines
  • Successful track record of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications (verbal and written) skills are essential.
  •  Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Domestic and international travel 25-30%
