Job Details

The Amgen Postdoctoral program is committed to providing future scientists with an enriching environment to inspire innovation that will contribute to the development of human therapeutics.

Dr. Jackson Egen in the Oncology and Inflammation department at Amgen, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in the field of cancer immunology, with a focus on identifying and characterizing mechanisms by which myeloid cells interact with and shape the tumor microenvironment. Recent studies utilizing techniques such as single-cell RNA sequencing have transformed our understanding of tumor-associated myeloid cell heterogeneity, revealing previously unappreciated phenotypic diversity amongst macrophage and dendritic cell subsets. The successful candidate will work to define the cellular origins of distinct myeloid populations within the tumor microenvironment, identify key cell-intrinsic and -extrinsic mechanisms regulating their differentiation, and further define the role of these heterogenous subsets in regulation of anti-tumor immunity.

This position is ideal for those seeking to understand the fundamentals of therapeutic discovery and translational biology while honing their skills as an independent investigator focused on basic science. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to build robust datasets and observations that advance the field of cancer immunology and lead to high profile publications and conference presentations. They will operate in the context of a highly collaborative environment, with ample opportunities to interact with other postdoctoral fellows, scientists, and drug discovery teams and access to state-of-the art technologies and resources, including single cell RNA sequencing, human genetics, and in vitro/in vivo models of tumor-immune cell interactions.

The postdoctoral position is for 3 years.
