Fate Therapeutics is currently seeking an experienced benefits professional to be responsible for benefits administration. This individual will be a key member in maintaining human resource systems, processes, and practices and will lead the implementation and management of a new
Human Resource Information System (HRIS). The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert (SME) in HRIS and local, state, and federal benefits laws and regulations. This individual will work closely with Finance and HR team members and employees across the organization. This full-time position initially reports to the Executive Director, HR & Operations and is located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities
• Serve as SME and primary user for HRIS, including implementation and management of Ceridian
Dayforce.
• Act as the primary liaison with employees, Finance, and HR to answer questions and resolve any
issues.
• Lead annual healthcare benefits open enrollment.
• Respond to HR questions concerning healthcare benefits, disability benefits (both short and
long term), leave of absence (LOA), payroll, 401(k), equity, paid time off (PTO), etc.
• Serve as HR team member review of bi-weekly payroll reports for benefits reporting accuracy.
• Maintain benefits files; keep apprised and updated on new regulations, company policies and
procedures; attend benefits conferences and trainings.
• Support recruitment team with applicant tracking system in Ceridian Dayforce as required.
• Support HR with annual performance and compensation in Ceridian Dayforce.
• Manage onboarding and offboarding benefits processes and documentation for all employees.
• Establish trust and be viewed as approachable and fair, spend time working with employees to
educate and answer benefits related questions across the organization.
• Support the HR and Finance teams as needed with ad hoc assignments to facilitate company
growth and operations.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years of benefits administration, preferably in mid-size public
biotech / life science organizations.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills required including expert use in MS Excel.
• Experience working with web-based benefits administration, payroll, and HRIS systems.
• Working knowledge with ADP Workforce Now, PlanSource, Fidelity Netbenefits, Ceridian
Dayforce preferred.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to healthcare, disability,
LOA, etc.
• Proven track-record working with confidential information, requiring considerable discretion,
judgment, tact, and professionalism.
• Excellent time management, organization, follow through and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Enjoy working with and relating to the needs of employees in a fast-paced, ever changing, and
growing organization.
• Strong understanding of SOX in a public company environment and other HR compliance
requirements preferred.
• Familiar with SharePoint and other document sharing platforms preferred.
• Ability and willingness to take on heavy administrative workflow processing as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
• May require occasional evening and weekend work.
• Full-time onsite work at company's headquarters in San Diego.
