What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role you will report to the Vice President of R&D Transformation and will dotted line into the Executive Lead of R&D DI&B. This individual will build, develop, and execute DI&B strategies for the Research and Development organization. The Program Lead will manage the R&D DI&B network, ensuring that the program meet the needs and expectations of the R&D organization and achieves corporate objectives. This leader will partner closely with stakeholders across R&D, Amgen's Diversity Inclusion & Belonging team and Employee Resource Groups, as needed, to ensure transparency, alignment and progress.

In addition, this person will serve as a liaison to the Representation in Clinical Research (RISE) team, assisting that team to work cross-functionally and to develop and execute appropriate plans that translate to high quality, meaningful and actionable results for the RISE program.

As it relates to both R&D DI&B and RISE, this position will be responsible to, but not limited to:
  • Organize and Lead DI&B related cross-functional initiatives
  • Work with Representation in Clinical Research (RISE) team to solve business problems and execute priorities
  • Translate strategy into action, diagnose pain points, co-create solutions and successfully execute the highest priority activities
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize information across a number of sources to turn unstructured business issues and requests into appropriate action plans
  • Champion change, and serve as a mentor to team members
  • Manage external collaborations and academic partnerships
  • Plan and oversee delivery of KPIs, metrics and other analytics
  • Provide expertise in methodologies appropriate for the objective, including Agile, Change Management, Solution Development, Implementation and Sustainment, Workshop Facilitation, and Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure program success, by managing risks, removing roadblocks, driving innovative thinking, maintaining fair process, and delivering high quality results
  • Serve as an integrator across multiple R&D and Amgen-wide functions and initiatives

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 4 years of relevant experience

OR

Master's degree and 8 years of relevant experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 10 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building or executing people programs, organizational development strategies or learning opportunities
  • Ability to lead and influence others directly and indirectly, think proactively, and function independently
  • Ability to build visuals and decks that will positively represent initiatives
  • Ability to drive initiatives and programs across a global organization and within smaller working teams
  • Experience working with cross-functional global teams and ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization. A change agent who is passionate about building an inclusive culture
  • Ability to understand, balance, and articulate both tactical and long-term planning issues
  • Creative and critical problem solving
  • Demonstrated passion for DI&B
  • Ability to engage and network with internal and external stakeholders in relevant communities
  • Strong project management, change management and organizational skills
  • Strategic agility: proven ability to translate strategy to execution
  • Broad knowledge of Research and Development
  • Strong quantitative, analytical (technical and business), and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize across multiple projects/tasks and handle diverse assignments simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication combined with cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Flexibility amidst rapidly changing environment; high tolerance of ambiguity
  • This role is intended to be ~2 year assignment.
