Sr Tax Counsel, Tax Audits


What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role you will lead the company's U.S. income tax audit group which is responsible for defending the company in tax controversies in the audit, appeals and litigation stages.

This position reports directly to the Executive Director, Tax, and is a key member of the Tax leadership team.
  • Manage the company's IRS income tax audits with a significant focus on transfer pricing, as well as state, local, and Canadian income tax audits.
  • Primary responsibility for strategic leadership of the audits, including management of external advisors, while providing oversight and leadership of the team members responsible for day-to-day audit management
  • Function as a strong advocate for the company in audit and appeals negotiations and be focused on achieving results in line with the company's core values

Basic Qualifications

J.D. degree or LL.M. degree from an accredited law school, admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction and four (4) years of experience practicing Tax law

Preferred Qualifications
  • 15+ years of tax experience with a large multinational corporation, major law firm, or national accounting firm, with at least 10+ years of tax controversy experience including experience with administrative appeals and/or litigation, focusing on transfer pricing and U.S. international matters.
  • C.P.A. and/or M.B.A./M.B.T. would be beneficial
  • Excellent tax technical knowledge especially in the transfer pricing area
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills, strong interpersonal relationship and negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate complex tax issues in an understandable manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple competing priorities, external advisors, and internal cross-functional projects in a collaborative environment
  • Interest in working in a team environment and career development of team members is important
