In 2016, the AbbVie Genomics Research Center (GRC) was formed within the Discovery organization. The GRC is an AbbVie Center of Excellence that supports and drives genomics and genetics research across AbbVie R&D. The GRC has core capabilities and research efforts in Genomic Technologies, Functional Genomics, Computational Genomics, Human Disease Genetics, Pharmacogenetics, and has dedicated support for IT infrastructure. The GRC is seeking to hire a Genomic Technologies group leader to support and drive existing genomic pipelines and to also expand genomic profiling capabilities.

The GRC Genomic Technologies (GTECH) Team supports AbbVie preclinical and clinical research teams by applying genomic profiling technologies with the goal of improving the drug discovery and development process. We apply genomic profiling technologies to identify and validate targets and biomarkers, improve understanding of preclinical models and candidate drug molecules, select/stratify patients and understand patient responses in AbbVie clinical trials. We are looking for a highly experienced candidate to lead the Genomic Technologies group. The successful candidate will set the vision and course for Genomic Technologies, enhance and improve existing workflows and pipelines, communicate results to stakeholders and collaborators and help drive efforts to expand genomic profiling capabilities/technologies to serve unmet scientific needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage/lead the GTECH group within the AbbVie Genomic Research Center (GRC) to provide high quality genomic profiling data sets. Collaborate on experimental design, execution, and analysis to deliver high quality results within agreed upon timelines.
  • As a scientific and people leader within AbbVie, responsible for advancing scientific and career development opportunities within the group.
  • Assure consistent operation and maintenance of genomic technology platforms within centralized technology group.
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders, specifically aroundtroubleshooting, prioritization and timelines.
  • Work within budgetary guidelines.
  • Stay current on rapidly evolving genomic profiling workflows including: RNAseq, DNAseq, single cell sequencing protocols, array and qPCR technologies. Contribute to and assure technology development efforts as required to meet the scientific needs of AbbVie Discovery and Development (R&D)
