AbbVie Analytical Research & Development (Analytical R&D) is a global analytical sciences organization responsible for all CMC analytical activities related to the development of AbbVie's pharmaceutical products. Role Overview

Within Analytical R&D, the Dissolution group focuses on the development of commercial dissolution methods with the emphasis on biopharmaceutics, clinical relevance, and fundamental understanding. The group is highly cross-functional and works closely with our internal Analytical R&D colleagues, as well as with Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmaceutics, Formulation and Process Development, and Sciences & Technologies and Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently design and conduct critical experiments, generating reliable and precise data. Interpret results and draw conclusions.
  • Understand relevant scientific literature and apply theoretical framework to solving problems within scientific discipline in a timely manner.
  • Implement and may innovate or modify experimental protocols to suit changing needs of research and development sciences.
  • Report and/or present conclusions of defined experiments to within function and cross-functional partners.
  • Understand the goal of his/her individual project(s) as well as the program.
  • Impact projects predominantly through lab activities and/or experimental design.
  • Demonstrate initiative/skill in new drug release techniques and laboratory automation.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment. Independently use and troubleshoot analytical instruments including HPLC and chromatography data systems.
  • Strong documentation skills, familiarity of GMP and GLP.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct. Ensure safety and GxP requirements are met when performing tasks.

Qualifications
  • BS/BA in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medical Technology, Biology or related field with typically 2-5 years laboratory experience.
  • MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medical Technology, Biology or related field with typically 0-2 years laboratory experience.
  • Analytical chemistry experience within the Pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Experience in Dissolution testing is highly desirable.
