What Your New Manager Wants You To Know:

The Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice to Allergan Data Labs (ADL), the digital and marketing arm of Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company. This position is the lead lawyer supporting ADL by providing substantive advice to the ADL teams. It advises on a broad range of legal issues, including technology, data analytics, consumer marketing, FDA regulations, False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, OIG guidance, competition, and contracts. The Counsel will report to the Vice President, Legal, Allergan Aesthetics and sit on his senior staff.

ADL is a team of 100+ digital and consumer marketing gurus, data scientists, and engineers, on a mission to help realize the potential of the aesthetics market through data and technology. It creates world-class digital products to inspire its 150 million target consumers globally to use Allergan Aesthetics' life-changing brands.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Work cross functionally with various departments to meet business objectives.
  • Provide legal advice and assistance related to commercial and marketing programs, new technologies and ventures, and collaborations with third parties.
  • Develop knowledge the aesthetics industry, Allergan Aesthetics portfolio, consumer marketing and loyalty programs, and technology and data analytics relevant to the aesthetics field.
  • Help select and direct the work of outside counsel, define project objectives and manage project.
  • Sit on senior staff for the Allergan Aesthetics Legal team.
  • Serve as recognized source, for the business as well as other attorneys, regarding innovative ideas in complex areas of law, business, or technology.
  • Be committed to meeting patient and health care provider unmet needs and be energized by rising to new challenges and coming up with creative solutions to serve them. Be energized by challenging and interesting legal work and novel business problems.
  • Stay abreast of changes in laws.
  • Identify unmet needs and future legal issues and proactively proposes strategies to optimize outcomes and results for the company and manage risk.
  • Have excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • Must possess a J.D. degree, and meet the professional licensing requirement of the state in which they practice.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably as outside counsel.
  • Excellent legal analysis skills, honed judgment, and ability to identify and quickly address critical issues. Ability to support the achievement of pharmaceutical business objectives by providing clear and practical counsel, including evaluating and managing risk.
  • Strong sense of urgency and drive for successful business outcome in all activities.
  • Pharmaceutical or healthcare experience preferred, not required.
