In this vital role, Amgen's Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) is seeking a collaborative Senior Associate Scientist to join our emerging protein expression and purification group in Thousand Oaks, California. The IPP is charged with developing Amgen's newest drug modality aimed at Targeted Protein Degradation, including discovery of PROTACs.

• The Senior Associate Scientist will be a part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for designing, planning and executing on the generation of key enabling reagents to support early discovery of Targeted Protein Degradation drugs.
• This includes the molecular engineering, cloning, expression and purification of proteins.
• Will also work closely with our Protein Technologies group.
• Have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment along with a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for taking on difficult research challenges.

Basic qualifications

Doctorate Degree OR

Master's degree and 3 years of related scientific experience OR

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related scientific experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven skills culturing E. coli and insect cells
• Detailed knowledge in recombinant protein purification (including affinity, ion exchange, HIC, SEC) and methods development
• Biochemistry analytical experience (SDS PAGE, Western Blot, HPLC, Mass Spectrometry)
• Familiarity with chromatography hardware and software (GE AKTA, Agilent HPLC)
• Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated scientific analysis and problem-solving skills as evidenced in peer review publications.
• Desire to be a team player in a dynamic, cross-functional environment
