Position Title: Staff Scientist- Emerging Business and Innovation (Multi-Omics)

Job Summary

The Staff Scientist- Emerging Business and Innovation (Multi-Omics) will participate in innovative/ translational research activities. We are seeking a highly talented and driven scientific researcher to join Baylor Genetics to generate innovative ideas and manage research projects as directed by leadership independently utilizing multi-omic methodology as well as Next-generation assays for biomarker discovery and characterization using integration of clinical genomics methods. The scope of activities will span many biological disciplines, including immunology, molecular oncology, cancer immunology, angiogenesis, neurobiology and regenerative medicine. The applicant will apply these tools to identify novel next-generation biomarkers to enable precision medicine tools for patients. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Works under general supervision. This position requires a graduate degree and 3 to 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Responsibilities/Primary Job Duties:

  • Designs and executed innovation research projects using multi-omics (Genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and epigenomic) methods
  • Design, refinement and development of new technologies to further innovative mission of BG
  • Work together with machine learning teams to develop and apply models to identify new biomarkers and therapeutic targets
  • Collaborate with disease experts across the different therapeutic areas
  • Contribute to high impact publications in high quality scientific journals and will have the opportunity to present externally though presentations at key internal and external meetings
  • Mentoring and training of other scientific researchers in multi-omic methods

Job Skills:

  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
  • Deep knowledge of science
  • Ability to synthesize latest research ideas to innovate clinical products

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree in molecular biology.
  • Post-doctoral experience in multi-omic translational research is desirable
  • Strong publication record of impactful discoveries
  • Relevant experience with:
  • Deploying and testing new multi-omc methods on clinical samples
  • Profiling clinical tissue samples using NGS, multi-omic methods (e.g. DNA, RNA-seq)
  • Proficient in high throughput omics and data analysis, visualization, and interpretation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work within a team comprised of diverse expertise • Excellent oral and written presentation skills
  • Required: Ph.D. in biological sciences with 3 to 5 years of experience.
