The Program Management Intern at Precision BioSciences will part of an exciting summer program that offers an opportunity to work with matrix teams and support activities from Discovery Research to late-stage Development. This position will support the implementation of a Precision BioSciences dashboard to showcase program status and performance using Smartsheet, our enterprise planning environment. A second area of focus will be to deliver a process improvement project, including documenting process, evaluating methodology (lean six sigma), recommending changes, and assessing value from implemented improvement. This intern will work directly with the Program/Project Management (PPM) Head, as well as members of our PPM Function, Program Management Community, and Subject Matter Experts in various functions. This internship may be part-time or full-time, working 20-40 hours per week for approximately 12 weeks in the summer.

  • Learn the fundamentals of program management for the biopharmaceutical industry by phase and by function
  • Become familiar with Precision BioSciences' program reporting, focusing on a company status and performance dashboard
  • Become familiar with Smartsheet, an enterprise planning environment, and how to use program plans to support portfolio and dashboard views
  • Standardize updates and reporting feeding into the dashboard to ensure data are correct and up-to-date
  • Engage with Research & Development program teams or functions to process map current processes to identify areas for improvement
  • Document at least one area for improvement and implement the recommended changes
  • Manage stakeholders to support area for improvement
  • Create communication plan for managing recommended changes
  • Create appropriate approach to track metrics for uptake of proposed changes (either for PM tools or Process Improvements)

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.
  • Currently enrolled student in pursuit of BS or advanced degree in science or business
  • Knowledge or experience in project management and process improvement are beneficial but could be demonstrated through academic or volunteer experience
  • Ability to engage Subject Matter Experts in documenting processes and implementing changes
  • Ability to summarize complex processes into clear illustrations
  • Ability to translate technical tasks into workflow documents

Location
  • This is a primarily office-based position associated with the main headquarters in downtown Durham, NC. For the time being, this role will be able to function remotely in accordance with company safety guidelines throughout the duration of the pandemic, but is subject to change as needed.
