The Accounting Intern will assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements for Precision BioSciences and participate in internal control testing with the external auditor and internal audit consultant. This data includes regulatory filings, SEC financial statement filings and management reporting. This role requires baseline knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, strong multitasking and organizational skills, and a demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.

This position is a part-time internship, working 20-30 hours per week for approximately 12 weeks in the summer.

  • Support the organization to meet reporting due dates and requirements imposed by regulators and external auditors. Support includes assistance with the preparation of monthly and quarterly internal financial reporting packages and external reporting in regulatory public filings
  • Support monthly and quarterly accounting close functions including account reconciliations, vendor accruals, and other month end close analysis and reconciliations as needed
  • Assist in Sarbanes Oxley testing procedures and practices including discussions with external auditors and internal audit consultant
  • Build strong, open, and collaborative working relationships characterized by mutual respect with superiors, peers, and subordinates within and outside Precision BioSciences
  • Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned


Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.
  • Rising Undergraduate Junior or Senior majoring in Accounting or Finance or related field
  • Conceptual understanding of US GAAP principles
  • Intermediate proficiency of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to produce accurate quality work
  • Must be detail-oriented and dependable
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Able to communicate data succinctly and accurately
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information assure it is safeguarded to protect the integrity of the company in accordance with the Precision Insider Trading Policy.


Location
  • This is a primarily office-based position associated with the main headquarters in downtown Durham, NC. For the time being, this role will be able to function remotely in accordance with company safety guidelines throughout the duration of the pandemic but is subject to change as needed.
