As a Scientific Associate II within AbbVie Drug Delivery Sciences, you will work under the mentorship of a supervisor to develop novel drug delivery systems for the sustained delivery of large molecules. You will collaborate with a talented, multidisciplinary and cross-functional group of colleagues to build cutting-edge new delivery capabilities and advance product candidates through early R&D. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic and inquisitive, with excellent communication and collaboration skills and a strong scientific foundation relevant to the formulation of protein therapeutics or sustained release delivery systems.

  • Under the supervision of a mentor, conducts impactful formulation and drug product analytical experiments in alignment with project goals. Interprets results, documents and communicates findings.
  • Applies an in-depth understanding of relevant scientific principles and literature to solve challenging problems in a timely and collaborative manner.
  • Performs routine and complex tasks competently and generates reliable and consistent results, with appropriate attention to detail.
  • Contributes to the enhancement of AbbVie's patent estate.
  • Supports a safe, organized and operational laboratory environment, including coordination of equipment calibration/maintenance, procurement of supplies, etc.
  • Responsible for compliance with all applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures
  • This position requires the individual to work with and in areas requiring select agents and Toxins access (i.e. Biosafety level 2 and biosafety level 3 laboratories). Access to and use of select agents is regulated by federal policies. Therefore, the candidate must conduct all work activities in compliance with AbbVie internal and applicable regulatory requirements. AbbVie internal requirements include compliance with ethics, environmental health and safety, financial, human resources, and general business policies, requirements and objectives.


Basic Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, bioengineering, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field, with 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Prior pharmaceutical industry experience in formulation or analytical chemistry preferred.
