JOB PURPOSE

Sana has a research opportunity in Immunology to positively impact projects in the pipeline that are pioneering a transformative new approach to engineering cells as medicine. This scientist will develop and execute the scientific strategy for novel platforms to enhance efficacy of T cell therapies across multiple disease indications, as well as provide immunology expertise across cell and gene therapy within Sana.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Apply T cell signaling expertise to interrogate and understand novel platform-based T cell therapeutics mechanism to identify optimal cell signaling domains, vector constructs and T cell subtypes to facility lead identification
  • Design and conduct in vitro assays to assess human and murine T cell phenotype and function, including cytotoxicity, proliferation, cytokine production and multiparameter immunophenotyping
  • Supervise technical staff to accomplish research goals
  • Collaborate closely with in vivo, gene therapy and vector development teams to coordinate experiments and deliver high quality results
  • Contribute to execution of IND-enabling studies and preparation of associated non-clinical study reports
  • Present data to managers and at group meetings

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Immunology or similar discipline with 5+ years of postdoctoral experience in academia or industry
  • Deep knowledge of T cell signaling and how these pathways affect effector function, T cell differentiation and T cell exhaustion/persistence
  • Experience with CAR-T cell therapeutics with expertise on the effect of effector and costimulatory domain signaling in the context of CAR activation
  • Expertise in proteomic analysis techniques, including Western blots, phospho-flow cytometry, mass spectrometry and/or tandem mass spec (LC-MS/MS)
  • Technical expertise in assays to characterize human and mouse T cell phenotype and function, including cytotoxicity, proliferation, cytokine production, chemotaxis, multiparameter immunophenotyping (flow and mass cytometry) and NGS analyses
  • Experience with lentiviral transduction and other gene therapy techniques (e.g., CRISPR).
  • Highly organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills
