Development organization, the Computational and Data Sciences (CDS) team strives to revolutionize the design and discovery of breakthrough differentiating therapeutics. Driven by passion and commitment, the CDS team provides actionable insights from physical and data modeling to accelerate therapeutic discovery.

As part of a critical, large-scale multi-year initiative to unlock the potential of data generated from Amgen's past and current research projects, the CDS team is seeking a scientific computing and research informatics engineer to join our multidisciplinary research team of computational and experimental scientists. In this vital role you will partner with a broad team of scientists to assist in managing, developing and deploying data science and molecular modeling solutions through:
  • Collaborating with team members to develop and deploy modeling and informatics solutions
  • Managing scientific computing software and tools
  • Proactively identifying gaps, bottlenecks and recommending solutions

qualifications.

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 3 years of Software Engineering experience
Or

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Software Engineering experience
Or

Associate's degree and 10 years of Software Engineering experience
Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Software Engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, computational sciences (computational chemistry, bio/cheminformatics) or related field
  • Strong scientific programming experience
  • Experience in scientific software management and deployment, including public-facing solutions
  • Proficiency with Linux and other programming tools such as Python, R, C, Pipeline Pilot and SQL
  • Proficiency in cloud computing such as AWS deployment
  • Knowledge of small molecule structures, cheminformatics and molecular modeling.
  • Strong communication, project management and problem-solving skills.
