PacBio has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sales Training leader to join our Commercial Operations organization and develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for our Commercial teams. As the head of sales training, the Sales Training Manager will play a critical role in PacBio's commercial growth and success, by defining and implementing training programs ranging from technical product acumen and sales process, to professional development and new hire onboarding. Working collaboratively across Commercial functions, including Sales, Marketing and Customer Support, the Sales Training Manager will be responsible for introducing best in class instructional design and adult learning theory to establish consistency in content development, delivery and retention tracking. This will occur across a range of topics, including product knowledge, market segment/applications, customer value proposition, competitive positioning, negation skills, sales process, methodology and systems, territory and account planning, coaching, leadership and more. This is a great opportunity for a self-starter that can move quickly and has experience taking training programs from concept to delivery in a high demand, fast paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with management to set strategy for training and development for the Commercial organization
  • Design and develop training programs, schedules, interactive assessments, and competency-based evaluations in partnership with key commercial functions
  • Establish formalized sales and marketing onboarding program to accelerate effectiveness of new hires in helping to achieve revenue growth objectives
  • Support training content development and delivery across a number of focus areas, including NPI, applications, market segmentation and sales process
  • Build network for sourcing global training content and resources
  • Apply best practice in instructional design, adult learning theory, facilitation, and relevant training methodologies to ensure value-added learning & development
  • Harmonize global training and development processes to drive consistency and effectiveness
  • Identify, onboard and administer key sales learning management systems and tools
  • Define and implement key performance indicators and report results (i.e. metrics and reports) to senior and executive management to show impact and retention of training content
  • Help to foster a learning culture and demonstrate superior communication and listening skills, while collaborating across all levels of the organization, through multiple departments

Position Requirements:
  • Minimum 6 years combined experience across Life Science, Medical Device, Diagnostics or capital equipment Sales
  • Minimum of 3 years of sales training experience in life science-based organization.
  • Bachelor's degree required, with a Masters degree in Biology, Chemistry or Genetics desirable
  • Experience training on sales process and methodology
  • Experience with Instructional Design, Curriculum design strongly preferred
  • Experience with the administration and maintenance of Learning Management Systems strongly preferred
  • Comfortable handling multiple initiatives of varying complexity in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Project and personnel management skills with demonstrated ability to organize projects, coordinate resources and successfully execute
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
