Pacific Biosciences is looking for an experienced Metrology Engineer to join our Chip NPI group. This person will support and scale up the manufacturing line for PacBio's biologically integrated semiconductor chip technology. Daily job activities will include overseeing and improving metrology operations to measure the chip's electrical and optical performance and assembly parameters.

The ideal candidate is an adaptive forward-thinking person able to take ownership of complex long-term projects while executing on immediate short-term deliverables. Key skills will include hands-on problem solving, project management, great documentation, and effective communication with stake holders inside R&D and manufacturing teams. Previous experience with development and qualification of custom metrology solutions and data pipeline management in semiconductor industry will make for a highly successful candidate.

Responsibilities:
This person will be responsible for ensuring high quality metrology methods are implemented and scaled across PacBio's integrated manufacturing line involving multiple semiconductor foundry partners.

Key areas of focus are:
  • Pioneering methods to collect, store, and analyze relevant data that is comprised of multiple internal and external data sources
  • Continuous improvement and quality qualification of existing metrology methods
  • Development of experiments and methods to identify key relationships between inline parametric data and product functional performance
  • Establishing new processes that enable the Ramp into volume production while meeting and exceeding quality/cost goals
  • Contributing to next generation metrology solutions through cross-functional collaboration with R&D teams
  • Software development and data pipeline management to facilitate all of the above activities


Position Requirements:
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics or similar discipline
  • 7+ years of industry experience with electrical or optical testing in high volume manufacturing environments
  • Ability to provide hands-on support on unique in-house developed metrology tools
  • Knowledge of statistical and Design of Experiments (DOE) methods
  • Significant proficiency with JMP, MatLab, SQL, R or Python; familiarity with C# is a plus
  • Experience with manufacturing automation and database systems
  • Proven capability to act effectively and efficiently both independently and in team environments
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 & 13485
  • Strong ownership and drive for success
