Position: Research Scientist, mRNA Drug Discovery

Reporting To: Director, Pharmacology

Position Objective

Nitto BioPharma Inc is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of novel RNA-based therapeutics for intractable diseases. We are currently seeking a talented, highly motivated and independent research scientist to join our pharmacology/drug discovery group. The successful candidate is expected to lead the mRNA synthesis and evaluation effects, and actively join mRNA drug discovery research.

Major Job Functions

· Develop mRNA therapeutic concepts

· Design, develop, optimize, and execute laboratory biology processes of mRNA synthesis

· Independently design therapeutic mRNA and synthesize therapeutic mRNA efficiently

· Develop methods and run the assays for purification and determination of the synthesized mRNA

· As a team member, evaluate therapeutic mRNA in in vitro and in vivo models

· Conduct different biochemical/biological assays including RNA extraction & qRT-PCR, ELISA, Western blot, Cytokine assays, Flow cytometry, and others

· Analyze and interpret experimental data, and accurately and timely document experimental progress in laboratory notebooks

· Deliver/present research progress to cross-functional project teams and senior staff

Education and/or Experience

· PhD with 2-3 years of experience in molecular biology, synthetic biology, bioengineering, cell biology, or a related discipline or MS with 5-8 years of working experience

· Extensive experience in molecular cloning, vector construction, in vitro transcription and translation, transfection, and transgene expression

· Strong motivation, independence, and ability to thinking critically and creatively to solve problems

· Proven interpersonal and written/oral communication skills

· Direct experience in therapeutic mRNA design, synthesis and modification is a big plus

***Level of the position is flexible and commensurate based on candidate's experience

Physical Job Requirements:

Office/Lab environment. Lifting to 20 pounds may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keypad or to write, as well as talk and hear. They are required to stand, walk or sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
