This position is responsible for monitoring site processes, identifying, evaluating and controlling hazards inherent in the manufacturing process, including their research and development as well as maintaining full compliance with all federal, state, local and Allergan EHS rules and regulations.

Main Areas of Responsibilities
  • Ensures the facilities are in full compliance with federal, state, local and corporate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements, rules and regulations. Conducts formal and informal audits of management systems and operating units providing guidance to affected groups as necessary.
  • Maintains EHS policies and procedures. Creates, promotes, administers and reviews EHS related programs.
  • Updates documents and standard operating procedures while following strict change control process.
  • Maintains a system for reporting and monitoring leading indicators of risk, establishing statistical trendswhich determine future objectives.
  • Participates in team efforts to determine effective resolution of noncompliance events, environmental releases, work-related injuries and illnesses, including determination of systemic causes, and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Responsible for the training of employees on EHS topics as required by federal, state, local and Allergan rules and regulations


Qualifications

You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology or related field preferred.
  • 1 - 3 years' experience administering safety programs, preferably in a biotech, pharmaceutical or high-tech environment.
  • Essential Skills, Experience, and Competencies (includes Licenses, Credentials)
  • A strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NJDEP laws & regulations including: Biosafety & Bloodborne Pathogens, Laboratory Safety, Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Hazardous Energy (LOTO), Machine Guarding, Contractor Safety Management, Ergonomics, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, Confined Spaces, Powered Industrial Trucks.
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED and HAZWOPER is a plus
  • Must be able to gown and enter laboratories, shipping/warehousing, clean room/aseptic production and process development areas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, people skills, and an ability to work under pressure within deadlines are required. Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong organization, recordkeeping, and presentation skills a must.
