Arcus Biosciences is a clinical-stage company, with 4 compounds (2 antibodies and 2 small molecules) being evaluated across multiple clinical trials. Arcus also has a robust pipeline of preclinical and discovery programs that will continue to fuel the development pipeline. The recently announced multi-year broad collaboration with Gilead Sciences will greatly accelerate our clinical development activities and will create a unique professional opportunity for experienced individuals in all aspects of drug development, including translational science.

Job Summary:

Arcus Biosciences is recruiting for a Scientist to lead our Compound Management Group. As Arcus is growing rapidly, our sample bank and its infrastructure are being expanded in parallel to meet new increase scope and complexity demands. We are seeking qualified applicants who have experience with supervision of staff and all other aspects of contemporary compound management. Demonstrated ability to work within a Research organization is required, including familiarity with transparent cycle time scheduling and troubleshooting. Leadership in the design and implementation of an automated sample bank as well as being in the lab is expected.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Managing compound preparation cycle times for assays across several projects
  • Actively participating in lab operations preparing compounds for testing and troubleshooting when necessary
  • Supervising Associates, including responsibility for professional development and performance reviews
  • Leading the design and planned expansion of our compound management practices
  • Independently managing and troubleshooting compound handling processes
  • Delivering assay-ready plates to a variety of groups within Research
  • Planning and implementing automation to efficiently and consistently provide delivery of compounds
  • Working collaboratively across our Automation and Research functions


Qualifications (including knowledge & skills):
  • Bachelors, Master's or PhD with 10-12, 5-6 or 2-3 years of experience, respectively, in a Pharmaceutical or Academic compound management setting
  • Familiarity with the drug discovery process and how compound management fits into that
  • Experience with performing in vitro assays preferred
