A summer research internship is available in the Nonclinical Safety and Pathobiology Department at the Foster City, CA, campus of Gilead Sciences. The candidate should be enrolled in a Graduate Program with Toxicology or Chemical Informatics with an emphasis in database management and/or computational modelling.

Essential Functions:
Under direct guidance and supervision, the intern will;
  • Develop a database from publicly available nonclinical toxicology studies
  • Develop computational models to predict the toxicity of chemicals
  • Potentially publish the data results
  • Will have the opportunity to interact with other functional groups in team-driven environment of Gilead's drug discovery programs

    Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Graduate Student enrolled in a Masters or PhD program; including enrollment in the Fall Semester after completing the internship
  • The successful candidate will have knowledge of toxicology, computational modelling, database development, and statistics
  • Basic knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) are required
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to complete 10-12 consecutive weeks between May and September
