The Role

The Manager, US Indirect Purchasing will be primarily responsible for implementing the company's US sourcing strategies associated with our indirect categories including Consulting, Meeting/Conference, Contingent Workers, Benefits, Fleet and other Enterprise indirect categories. The role will work closely with cross-functional teams across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Analyzing categories of spend to determine potential opportunities regarding cost optimization
  • Owning and managing all internal and external relationships that are required to deliver against the US sourcing strategies for these sub-categories or suppliers
  • Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels, as well as external supplier relationships with key supplier personnel focused on working with AbbVie to build a mutually beneficial supply relationship
  • Build and maintain a strong working knowledge of supply market conditions for the sourcing sub-categories that are being managed, as well as a good working knowledge of the supplier and sub-category offerings
  • Develop, agree and implement a sourcing category strategy for the agreed categories in support of US Sourcing objectives
  • Accountable for achieving targeted results, including cost savings, for the agreed sourcing sub-categories
  • Apply strategic sourcing practices and manage supplier negotiations to ensure that full benefits are realized and sustained
  • Ensure effective transition from current practices to any new model including migration to e- sourcing & eProcurement systems, tools, process and guidelines
  • Develop, manage and measure key supplier relationships
  • Cooperating with Supply Chain and Operations to ensure continuity of Supply
  • Manage projects, its external resources, work plan and progress of work
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder business relationship to build and win internal support for the benefit of the business
  • Ensure that processes and communications channels exist to maximize the effectiveness of the delivery and implementations of any sourcing negotiations or projects
  • Maintain, and present to line management, intelligence and market analyses regarding product and service development opportunities

• Effectively project manage all initiatives

Qualifications

Candidate Profile

• Experience in Category Management strategy. Proven track record of supplier evaluation, negotiation and selection

• Experience in contract management and execution

• Experience in supplier development and supplier performance

• Strong skills in spend and performance analysis

• Good understanding of supply market

• Good understanding of best-in-class sourcing management processes and techniques. Knowledge of ePurchasing tools would be an advantage

• Ability to identify business opportunities and make business proposals

• Energetic, committed and dedicated to achieving success

• Able to resolve problems, transition and transform sourcing activities

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

• Personal organization and self-management

• Experience with indirect categories such as Consulting, Meetings/Conferences, Contingent Workers and HR is desirable

• Procurement related degree preferred.

• 5 years minimum relevant management level experience in a procurement related environment
