The mission of the Global Patient Safety (GLPS) organization is to protect patients through timely collection and reporting of safety information and proactive and comprehensive risk/benefit evaluation, ensuring patient safety and Gilead's compliance with global regulations for all products and therapies throughout their life cycle.

The Global Patient Safety (GLPS) Systems Team Identifies, assesses, delivers and supports the technology and data analytics needs of Gilead's Global Patient Safety department. To do this, we are organized into three groups:

Data Analytics
o Responsible for retrieving data from our tools and systems, designing reports, dashboards and visualizations, and maintaining libraries of ready-made reports for our customers.
Systems Analysis
o Work with our customers to assess or determine whether new or existing technologies/platforms could be leveraged to address the needs of a requestor. The outcome of this assessment would be a business case to help justify either a quick in-house solution or all the way to a large IT investment in a new solution.
Systems Support
o Responsible for configuring and validating GLPS systems and related applications as well as troubleshooting issues for those applications. This includes working with IT as well as other cross functional teams.

The Position

The position exposes interns to the various components of GLPS Systems functions by involvement in related tasks within each of the Systems Team groups. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to real projects, attend departmental team meetings, and work closely with professionals from a multitude of backgrounds including Data Reporting and Visualizations, Safety Database Administration, and Enterprise Content Management.

The internship is an entry-level position, beginning with an initial period of training under direct supervision. The responsibilities may include:

Participating in both internal and external educational initiatives and activities
Attending and participating in interdepartmental team meetings
Data Analytics
o Create reports/dashboards working directly with stakeholders within the GLPS organization (Systems, Medical Safety Science, Operations, Standards & Collaborations)
o Collaborate with team members to collect and analyze data. Use graphs, infographics and other methods to visualize data
o Create presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings
o Perform simple edits to existing reports
Systems Analysis
o Assist in facilitating Demand Requests from customers within GLPS including: documenting User Requirements and authoring Business Cases.
o Analyze and Author process documentation
o Administration of Enterprise Content Systems such as Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive
Systems Support
o Troubleshooting and application support for specific applications and solutions.
o Support, test, and refine application configurations to align with business process needs during system implementation and change management, may.
o Collaborate with business and IT partners to enhance applications to reduce operating time or improve efficiency.
o Prepare program-level and user-level documentation.
o Assist with application configuration management, and maintenance for Gilead's Safety Database or other safety related applications
o Organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple work activities to meet project deadlines.
o May provide input to business processes.

Exhibits proficiency in verbal and written communication, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Maintains a strong academic record with relevant extracurricular experiences
Coding skills in languages such as SQL, Python, and/or R
Knowledge of Business Intelligence (BI) tools
Familiarity with relational databases
Excellent Analytical and problem-solving skills
Adheres to process related standards
Eligibility Requirements

Enrolled in a 4-year accredited University/College, seeking an undergraduate degree in science or other health related
Available to complete the internship for duration of the program
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all company policies and regulations
