The Development Finance team within Development Business Operations provides support for study and site-related processes associated with budgets and payments to vendors and investigative sites. In addition, Development Finance is involved in financial management of studies which includes budget development and forecasting, PO creation, vendor invoice review, and monthly and quarterly accruals. The team partners closely with the Clinical Operations and Vendor Outsourcing groups to ensure that all things contractual and financial go smoothly before, during, and after a study.

The Position

Ideal candidate will have interest and academic background in analytics, finance or accounting. An interest in contract law or the pharmaceutical industry is also desirable. Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic are essential. The internship will include specific projects related to data validation for reporting as well as analyzing and accruing R&D expense accurately.

Job Responsibilities may include the following tasks:
Creating and updating spreadsheets for variance analysis and detailed Quarterly Financial Review spreadsheets
Validating and researching Purchase Order discrepancies & documenting processes for resolution
Researching payment inquiries and drafting responses
Assist in integration of Earned Value Analysis principles into Gilead financial review process
A research project to analysis specific expense types and lead to more accurate accruals
Data validation for accurate reporting of project expenses.

Eligibility:
Summer Intern at least 18 years old
Undergraduate enrolled in a 4-year accredited university/college; including enrollment in Fall Semester after internship
Related Majors to Clinical Operations: Nursing, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, etc.
Ability to complete 10-12 consecutive weeks between May and September
