A summer research internship is available in the Biomarker Science Department, Biobanking and Sample Management Group at the Foster City, CA, campus of Gilead Sciences. The candidate should be enrolled in an Undergraduate Program with a good academic record and a Major in Biology or related fields.

Essential Functions:
Under general supervision, the intern will work on a project to explore new software functionality to increase the efficiency and user-friendliness of Biobanking and Sample Management Group software tools, including but not limited to defining user requirements, creating test cases and running tests.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in Biology or related field in a 4-year accredited university/college; including enrollment in the Fall Semester after completing the internship. Preferably, completion of 3 years of study prior to the internship commencing.
  • Good verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are required.
  • The student should have proven problem solving and data processing skills. Have solid ethical decision-making skills and be self-motivated and adaptable to change.
  • Ability to work effectively/collaboratively across teams and partnerships.
  • Preferred candidate would have some programming language experience, strong computer skills, good technical use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to complete 10-12 consecutive weeks between May and September.
