The Director, Portfolio Training and Leadership Development works closely with the AVP, Sales Training, Sales and Marketing Leadership and the Global Talent team to recommend, design and direct strategic and tactical leadership training for the U.S. Aesthetics field sales organization covering Portfolio Program Training and all phases of Aesthetics leadership and management training including Field Sales Trainer (FST) training, Emerging Leadership Development Program (ELDP), Future Sales Manager (FSM I and II) training, Essentials Of Leadership (EOL I and II) training for new sales managers, tenured Sales Manager development, Director Development (DDP), tenured Director development, and corporate training programs to include Career Development and Inclusion Training.

Business Results/Impact

• Design, develop and work towards delivering effective training programs that stay within budget and impact top line sales.
  • Develops relationships with field sales and associated field roles to provide sales training and sales leadership with a clear understanding of portfolio training, leadership development and management development needs for the Allergan Medical Aesthetics businesses.

• Responsible for the leadership, logistics and facilitation (where needed) of all Medical Aesthetics Management, Leadership Development, and Director Development courses. Courses include FST annual meeting, ELDP, FSM, EOL, & DDP to name a few.

• Works with Portfolio Marketing, Sales Training and Sales Leadership to ensure Allergan Portfolio Programs and Leadership Development Programs training content is up to date for all training needs. Collaboratively works with all key stakeholders in the Medical/ Legal/Regulatory/Compliance process to ensure all relevant materials are approved.

Aesthetics Portfolio Program Training

• Design, develop and work with internal partners in delivering effective training content covering key Aesthetics Portfolio programs including but not limited to Allergan Partner Privileges (APP), Allergan Advantage, and Alle.
  • Develops relationships with sales training, portfolio marketing, and associated field roles to provide sales training and sales leadership with a clear understanding of portfolio program training needs for the Allergan Aesthetics businesses.
  • Responsible in conjunction with portfolio marketing teams in development and design in key training assets needed to support competency and fluency of the sales force: LMS training modules, Presentation Decks, Workshops, Gamification, Knowledge Checks needed for each Aesthetics Business Unit in sales training and new hire onboarding.

• Responsible for the leadership, design, logistics and facilitation (where needed) of portfolio program training at annual National Sales Meeting and Manager Meetings.

• Works with Sales Training and Portfolio Marketing teams to ensure training content is up to date for all training needs. Collaboratively works with all key stakeholders in the Medical/ Legal/Regulatory/Compliance process to ensure all relevant materials are approved.

Leadership Development Training Continuum
  • Manages all ongoing training content and learning process, all Learning Platforms (live, remote and on demand) and coordinates training continuum for the Leadership Development, Management Development and Director Development programs.

• Point person for Leadership, Manager and Director Development to include all sales leadership for Allergan Aesthetics (Facial, PRM, Body Contouring, SkinMedica and Inside Sales), Allergan Practice Consulting (APC) Teams, National Accounts, Professional Relations, Corporate Healthcare and Support Teams in the Aesthetics.

• Responsible for running the annual Aesthetics Field Sales Trainer (FST) annual program including agenda design with skill set development (ACTIONS Coaching), Trainer Development, and key Business Unit focused time around FST roles and responsibilities. Responsible for ensuring FST Role Playbook is updated annually.

• Creates and disseminates the Aesthetics Leadership Quarterly newsletter with key leadership updates, and runs a quarterly Manager Development WebEx series and All Director Meetings,

• Assignor for all Aesthetics Leadership Development Sales Training programs - Ensures all classes are calendarized and all invites are promptly sent to attendees with sales management approvals. Works closely with training coordinator/admin to ensure programs are effectively managed. Ensures Leadership Development Matrix is up to date and all live courses are properly assigned and recorded in the LMS system. Organizes and leads annual nomination process for the Aesthetics Leadership Development Continuum.

• Works with sales training department and field training managers to support, develop and execute Manager Development programs at National Manager Meetings and National Sales Meetings

• Continuously assesses training and development needs of the field force and coordinates training resources, vendors to ensure the long-term development of the Aesthetics Sales teams. Adjusts training design and content based off of course survey feedback.

Key Meeting Design & Execution

• In collaboration with sales leadership, Human Resources, Talent Management, marketing leadership and the training team, identifies and develops content, agendas and timelines. Additionally, key internal customers for this work include the training coordination and the meeting/planning team.

• Updates and solicits volunteers for the National Mentor List annually. Leverages this list to align mentors with each leadership development course with support from most if not all business units for each course. Ensures updated list is available on the Sales Portal.

• Coordinates pre and post course communications including Attendee pre-call, Managers of attendee pre-calls, Mentor pre-calls, daily course feedback, and post course feedback announcements.

• Primary interface with Allergan training coordination and meeting planning team to ensure team understands meeting flow, objectives, and requirements for Manager, Director and Leadership Development courses.


Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 7 years field sales experience in the pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry
  • Three (3) years field sales management experience in pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry preferred
  • Proven experience in developing and leading individual contributors and/or teams.
  • Knowledge and experience using existing Allergan sales and leadership development programs
