The Manager, U.S Distribution is responsible for managing all aspects of finished good distribution supporting AbbVie domestic & International shipments. US Distribution Operations is responsible to meet AbbVie customer service expectations from a distribution point of view and support warehousing activities for AP16 manufacturing while meeting all Quality, Regulatory, Financial and Global Trade compliance expectations. The associate director must ensure full compliance with FDA, DEA, OSHA, GTC, TSA and other regulatory expectations. The associate director is expected to maintain efficient and compliant operations ready to meet any internal, customer or regulatory audits. The role is expected to maintain a safe and secure facility ensuring employee safety and product integrity. Role is expected to meet assigned goals and KPI's and assure capacity, systems and technology is capable of supporting over $16B of gross domestic sales.

The role oversees distribution activities to ensure that customer & main stakeholders requirements are consistently satisfied while complying with AbbVie policies and achieving performance targets related to inventory efficiency, distribution efficacy and quality compliance. This role is responsible for day-to-day oversight and management of the warehousing activities for commercial distribution while aligning processes and policies with those of functional partners at the affiliate (e.g., Commercial, Customer Service, Finance, Planning, and Quality Assurance).
  • Implement, Support and document the Governance Model of the Abbott park distribution centers leading Monthly Business Review (MBR) with key stakeholders covering the standard agenda enriched with relevant topics. Lead Quarterly business reviews as well supporting AbbVie to achieve alignment on the strategy, outcome for the future and ensure that targets are met for Warehousing and Distribution operations.
  • Establish annual operating budget and measure financial performance through submission of monthly financial figures in accordance with guidelines.
  • Promote, coordinate and lead gross margin improvement and saving projects that allow Abbvie to reduce overall distribution expense.
  • Liaise with affiliate by capturing customer and patient requirements and support AbbVie commercial leads in making decisions on customer requirements
  • Champion implementation of standard processes/policies developed by distribution and drive activities necessary to achieve operational excellence
  • Review upcoming volumes, product launches and future capacity needs, take the lead in coordinating activities and communication among distribution center, Supply Planning and Customer Service teams. Undertake analysis for new product distribution avoiding any delay in the distribution flow and where possible expedite the access to market e.g. warehouse preparation, special distribution requirements, etc.
  • Identify distribution-related risks and escalate to the appropriate Distribution staff as needed.
  • Coordinate with appropriate Distribution staff and AbbVie functional partners (e.g., Finance) to set inventory policies. Perform activities in line with global and local financial policies, review on a regular basis inbound deliveries, outbound deliveries (returned goods), inventory by product and resolve discrepancies and returns.
  • Lead the implementation of the Distribution KPIs and ensure monthly reporting requirements are met.
  • Interpret, develop, and implement strategies, policies, procedures and systems to ensure distribution quality and security.
  • Responsible for the management, training and developing a compliant and diverse work force of 40+ operators, group leaders and supervisors
  • Responsible to meet internal and external customer service expectations including interaction with key AbbVie customers participating in customer audits and programs that are expected to improve service or support AbbVie business activity, product security or customer relationships

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, operations, or Logistics Management Equivalent experience is acceptable.
  • Supply Chain management or logistics master's degree preferred
  • Knowledge of main distribution channels in the US
  • Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with SAP and/or common Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred
  • Lean six sigma experience preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct warehouse management experience and experience managing strategic logistic providers
  • Must be able to attain Controlled Drug Agent status gained by passing the security screening process and training processes.
  • Must be able to pass all FBI, state and local background checks including no prior felony convictions to meet various state licensing requirements.
  • A minimum of 5 years people management experience required
