 Position Summary:

The Associate Scientist/Research Scientist is an important member of our Hybridoma Generation team.  We are seeking a motivated and adaptive Temp-to-Hire Associate Scientist/Research Scientist to support and develop our antibody generation platform. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in laboratory techniques, aseptic mammalian cell isolation and culture, hybridoma generation techniques, and be familiar with phenotypic and functional assessment of primary human immune cells.  This role may require some flexibility in work hours based on scheduling of clinical samples.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn new methods quickly and work independently to perform experiments successfully with minimal supervision.
  • Isolation and cryopreservation of primary cells from a variety of patient tissues (whole blood, lymph nodes, tumors) from clinical research sites.
  • Enrichment of primary human immune cell subpopulations using commercially available kits and/or cell sorting. 
  • Expansion of primary human immune cells and fusion partner cell line.
  • Electrofusion of B-cells to fusion partner cell line to generate high efficiency hybridoma libraries.
  • Culture, sub-cloning, and/or sequencing of immortalized human hybridomas.
  • FACS-based phenotypic analysis of immune cell populations from primary human tissues.
  • Aseptic preparation and aliquoting of reagents and media used for cell culture.
  • Run assays to investigate human cellular immune function (proliferation studies, ELISA, ICS).
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques (RNA isolation, RT-PCR, qPCR) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of  universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from biohazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate data recording, and analysis, using an electronic notebook.
  • Analyze and present data and recommendations to team members in Hybridoma Generation and those in other departments.
  • Follow SOPs to perform job duties and adhere to all safety and company policies. 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related science degree    

Required Knowledge and Skills (Minimum 3 years of the following):

  • Isolation and cryopreservation of PBMC from whole blood
  • Enrichment of cell populations from using commercially available kits
  • Primary cell culture, including B-cell populations
  • Cell fusion techniques used to generate hybridoma libraries
  • Subcloning of polyclonal cell populations
  • Multiparameter flow cytometry panel design and analysis preferred
  • The ability to multitask across several projects simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of the microenvironment of various immune tissues
  • GLP or GMP cell culture experience a plus
  • CyTOF-based analysis using high-dimensional analysis (viSNE, SPADE, FlowSOM) a plus
  • The ability to multitask across several projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to learn and work well with others in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment.  Strong  preference given to those candidates with a demonstrated ability to learn quickly and develop their skills independently.
