Position Summary

The Sr Research Associate / Principal Associate will be a supporting member of the Product Development team and will report to a Scientist. This position will focus developing and screening stable vaccine formulations and supporting formulation and assay development for pre-clinical through Phase III pharmaceutical candidates, and life-cycle management of commercialized products.

Essential Functions

  • Provide formulation analytical development support
  • Provide manufacturing process development support
  • Train on project-specific assays (e.g. ELISA/PCR/Western Blot)
  • Train on formulation characterization assays (DSC, DLS, thermostability)
  • Independently perform assays and train others
  • Ensure compliance with GLP and other regulatory guidelines
  • Perform biological/biochemical and/or chemical analyses of product to ensure stability
  • Maintain mammalian cell lines and perform cell based assays (CFU, TCID50, Cytotoxicity)
  • Organize and manage development stability studies
  • Perform testing based on SOP
  • Write and revise GLP/GMP documentation
  • Analyze data generated independently


Minimum Education, Experience and Skills
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree. BS degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmaceutical development or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Applicant should be familiar with GMP and GLP guidelines, how to keep a laboratory notebook, and concepts of assays such as PCR/ELISA/TCID50
  • Strong benchtop skills, proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, strong written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills
  • Follow company policies and procedures (SOPs) to complete assignments
  • Safely handle BSL2 organisms (virus like particles, virus, bacteria)
  • Experience with aseptic techniques
  • Experienced in molecular biology characterization techniques (ELISA, PCR, Western Blot)
  • Experience with cell culture (mammalian, bacterial) and cell-based assays (CFU, TCID50)
  • Collaborate with others
  • Analyze results of development studies
  • Present data to colleagues
  • Conduct routine and nonroutine analysis of finished formulations
  • Troubleshoot complex problems
