The Accounts Receivable Analyst provides subject matter expertise and leadership in a supportive role to the Supervisor and team members. The A/R Analyst applies advanced knowledge of the A/R department in interactions within the department and payers to deliver business results while positioning the business and AbbVie for success in the future. This position works collaboratively with other areas of the business to complete the Quality and Material Destruction Order process. This position is key to growing the business by delivering an exceptional analytics to internal and external customers in order to demonstrate the value of the organization.
  • Investigate all product returns and document activity in various platforms. Initiate Quality and material destruction order (MDO) processes to document corrective action and product destruction for returns not salvageable. Work with Patient Care Coordinator to initiate product replacements.
  • Prepare metrics to provide department visibility to external customers. Including periodic trending as well as future expectations.
  • Maintain drug configuration and pricing according to government and corporate policies.
  • Review data using databases and queries. With limited guidance, prepare moderately complex spreadsheets for account review, including: outstanding A/R, partial payments, refunds, rebates and write offs on uncollectible items.
  • Participate in department and selected cross-functional process improvement teams, recommending changes to management as identified.
  • Subject Matter Expert in billing and cash application processes with the knowledge of the ScriptMed system to address escalated issues.
  • Monitor for exception prevention including Cash Application Reconciliation, Billing Reconciliation, Unreversed Prescription Monitoring and monitoring the Manual Adjustment Process.

  • Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years of related finance or accounting experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in a healthcare or reimbursement setting. Call center preferred.
  • Meet Pharmacy Technician licensure and certification requirements by start date in accordance with the Illinois Pharmacy Practice Act.
  • Demonstrated strong, accurate technical skills. Must be detail oriented. Must have knowledge of commercial and government payors, alternate funding resources, reimbursement processes, and specialty pharmacy operations.
  • Proven leadership and coaching skills. Demonstrated ability to lead and participate within a team, manage multiple priorities and meet associated timelines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Must have professional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to follow Materials and Quality processes.
  • Proven organizational and problem solving skills, elevating to management when appropriate.
  • Knowledgeable of applicable regulations and standards affecting pharmaceutical products (e.g. CFR 210/211, cGMP).
