The Senior Director, Global Patient Access - New Products, is a core member of the Global Patient Access Leadership team. This role is responsible for developing and implementing global integrated market access strategies to ensure the successful launch and growth of new products globally.

  • Ensures global market access strategies are aligned with global program team; global commercial strategies; and corporate including positioning.
  • Supports business development projects from a price, reimbursement and access perspective as well play a key role to partner on future pipeline development targets.
  • Leads the development of early global value and access strategy and action plans for assigned pipeline medicines and indications within the therapeutic area to maximize product value and ensure optimal access.
  • Partners closely with R&D, Medical Affairs, global and local commercial counterparts to ensure value and access input are incorporated into clinical development, medical affairs and commercial strategies.
  • Assesses and define evidence needs across global priority markets and develop integrated evidence generation strategies and plans.
  • Conducts early payer and competitive research as needed to understand value perception, landscape, evolving trends and value drivers.
  • Analyzes model concepts with access strategy and commercial reimbursement needs from core markets, conduct payer pricing analysis and develop global pricing principles
  • Develops early value story and shape plans to deliver against vision.
  • Builds early stakeholder engagement priorities and plans across key markets, consistent engagement timelines and messaging, provide global interaction objectives and tools to support communication with external stakeholders and monitor stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Supports assigned business development assessments from a pricing, access and reimbursement perspective.
  • Drives early access and value thinking to optimize key targets disease areas within the Novartis Gene Therapies gene therapy platform.
  • Drives cross-functional Global Health Economics and early Access Strategy core team meetings in collaboration with team co-leads to ensure all initiatives (e.g., HEOR, Market Access, Business Insights, Policy, finance) for early-products are fully integrated, aligned and on-schedule to support the value of new products and ensure launch readiness globally.
  • Instills, supports, and is a role model for a culture of ethics and integrity.
  • Operates within approved budgets.
  • Maintains industry awareness in scope of responsibilities regarding external landscape and trends.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • A bachelor's of science (or similar degree ) with 10 years' experience leading global market access, including new product planning and/or launch and commercialization of innovative, first-in-class specialty pharmaceutical products. Masters or Doctorate (preferred) degree with 6 years' experience leading global market access, including new product planning and/or launch and commercialization of innovative.
  • Successfully held a role of similar capacity at another company as and/or having access experience in Europe and other key global markets.
  • Ability to work across multiple functions, geographies (including Novartis in various regions) and cultures and in a company with global functions in the U.S.
  • Prior experience in rare diseases, in high-value products, and in a small, rapidly growing company are preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English is required and proficiency in one of the major languages spoken in the region is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and execution of global market access plans for highly specialized products.
  • Successful first-hand global experience in pricing, reimbursement and access for high-value products, including at least the EU5/UK, with experience in rare disease and emerging markets preferred.
  • A genuine care for patients and a desire to make a meaningful difference in their lives.
  • Travel is global 30-40%.

The level of this position will be based on the final candidate's qualifications.
