What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role you will maximize the value obtained from partnerships with external providers across the R&D organization and ensure appropriate financial oversight of Clinical Trial suppliers.
  • Ensure quality oversight of RDSG-managed Purchase Orders (POs): SoW negotiations, funding requests through established financial processes, PO execution, ongoing budget review, and PO closure
  • Oversight and management of team of contract managers in US and UK
  • Identify functional standard methodologies and process improvements and coordinate their development and implementation for suppliers
  • Communicate and standardizing financial, PO and invoice management standard methodologies across supplier types and teams
  • Work with suppliers and internal customers (typically up to Director level) to identify, handle, call out, and resolve issues
  • Provide ongoing supplier oversight and encourage sharing of standard methodologies and development of process improvements
  • Chairing and leading supplier governance meetings

  • Support business functions with selection and development of new suppliers
  • Identify business needs at Amgen for new suppliers with functional input
  • Support final decision on selection of suppliers
  • Ensure adherence to standard methodologies by Amgen functional areas
  • Collaborate closely with functional areas across the R&D organization to ensure internal business needs are being met
  • Contribute to, and as appropriate, lead departmental and cross-functional initiatives and special projects as identified by management or business need


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree OR

Master's degree & 2 years of clinical development, discovery research or translational science experience OR

Bachelor's degree & 4 years of clinical development, discovery research or translational science experience OR

Associate's degree & 10 years of clinical development, discovery research or translational science experience OR

High school diploma / GED & 12 years of clinical development, discovery research or translational science experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BA/BS/BSc in the sciences or RN
  • Proven work experience in life sciences or medically related field, including biopharmaceutical clinical research experience (clinical research experience obtained working on clinical trials at a biotech, pharmaceutical or CRO company), discovery research or translational science
  • Experience at, or oversight of, clinical research suppliers (CROs, central labs, imaging suppliers etc.
  • Experience working in a global, matrix organization
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP), FDA regulations and guidelines and international regulatory requirements/guidelines
