Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the SVP - Global Oncology Development, the position is a strategic partner and thought leader for the global function that leads the coordination and implementation of initiatives which serve to optimize the organization structure, design and ongoing operations of the function and sub-functions to deliver new first-in-class and best-in class oncology drugs to our patients with unmet medical needs.

This position is responsible for improving current and/or creating new processes, and coordinating organizational procedures/systems to optimize communication, workflows, consistency/standardization of processes, resource management, efficiency and productivity.

As a member of Global Oncology Development Leadership Team, the incumbent closely collaborates with the Global Head Oncology R&D, Oncology R&D COS, key stakeholders and leaders across the Cancer Enterprise/DS and Global R&D to achieve desired business results (short-term, mid-term, long-term).

Responsibilities:

Lead the Cancer Enterprise - Protocol Review Group (CE-PRG) office to ensure the rapid and high-quality review and approval of all profiles, protocols and amendments. Serve as Chair in the absence of SVP-Global Oncology Development.

Create, implement and monitor the standards and process of the Global Oncology Development function related SOP/SOI and best in class industry standards, which will involve the full engagement of all subject matter experts and R&D stakeholders. The scope will be all end-to-end process (e.g. Protocols, Data Reviews, Clinical Study Reports, etc.) which need to be updated and monitored to align to the partnership with the CRO partner.

Support the Global Oncology Development Department head for organizational initiatives and activities in terms of coordination, planning, and execution and be an integrating force across the geographies and functions within DS and with external stakeholders. This position will be assigned to participate and/or lead relevant DELTA workstream teams as well as other strategic initiatives.

In conjunction with Global R&D Finance, Global Project Management, HR, manage the workforce planning for Global Development, operating and capital budgets, resource planning and resource allocation. Monitor and report to stakeholders.

Develop strategy and ensure execution of initiatives and programs to maintain their scientific and technical expertise and insights and are enable innovations and best practices. Examples: Educational and training programs within Global Oncology Development and for other R&D and DS functions. Scientific and innovative seminars, etc.

Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Education/Experience:

Graduate degree in a scientific discipline. MD, PhD, Pharm D or equivalent preferred
  • 12 years of experience in pharma R&D drug development with significant experience working in oncology development
  • Experience leading and managing global strategic initiatives
  • Demonstrated track-record of complex decision making, communication and collaboration skills with proven cross-functional and multi-level relationship building and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with workforce planning and managing operating budgets with varying degrees of complexity
  • Experience driving process improvement initiatives
  • Experience leading global teams and operating in a matrix environment
