The Business Systems Analyst, Commercial IT drives the creation and delivery of value added IT solutions the commercial departments.

  • Serves as expert resource and primary point of contact for all IT matters for Commercial leadership team.
  • Facilitates discussions to help the business anticipate future needs and opportunities for business process improvements driven by technology.
  • Drives implementation of new digital capabilities, including:
  • Requirements Management:
    • Interview Commercial business partners to define business objectives and business requirements.
    • Lead group user requirements gathering sessions in order to define solution functional requirements.
    • Develop IT/business use cases to support business objectives and business requirements.
    • Lead authoring of user requirements, functional requirements documents and required documents as part of SDLC and Computer System Validation practices.
  • Business Process Management:
    • Document as-is/to-be IT/business processes with respective data and technology relationships and flows.
    • Design to-be IT/business processes, respective data and technology relationships and flows.
  • Impact Assessments:
    • For existing systems, assess requirements to define impact of changes, including version upgrades, new features, data utilization, etc.
    • Develop IT/business impact assessments for end-to-end implementation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs).
  • Validation:
    • Support validation efforts of GxP and non-GxP systems and transition to operations through all phases of testing (Compliance, Integration, User Acceptance, Regression, etc.) as part of SDLC and Computer System Validation practices.
  • Additional Activities:
    • Analytical problem solver in assessing project issues/impediments to recommend resolution/mitigation options.
    • Provide support to Project Management activities including but not limited to: change controls, status, schedule inputs, Risks/Assumptions/Issues/Dependencies, Actions/Decisions.
    • Support development of business cases.
    • Evaluation and selection of solutions, including RFPs.
  • Provides strong contribution to business leads as they prepare for implementation of new IT capabilities and introduce process changes in the organization.
  • Interacts with internal and external subject matter experts to identify industry trends, evaluate their applicability, and provide recommendations to management.
  • Establishes a culture of accountability, collaboration, courage and continuous improvement.
  • Other related job duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with 5 years expectance in life sciences industry in business analysis or similar role; Master degree in computer science preferred with 2 years expectance in life sciences industry in business analysis or similar role.
  • Excellent understanding of Commercial processes, systems, Data Management, Analytics and Reporting practices.
  • Experience with AGILE and Waterfall methodologies
  • Knowledge of technology trends and developments in the area of Commercial.
  • Experience with computer systems validation and SDLC practices.
  • Knowledge of IT strategy and architectural standards.
  • Proven delivery track record in international, distributed organizations.
  • High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work with little supervision.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage in a matrix organization.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills at all levels, including non-technical audiences.

The level of this position will be based on the final candidate's qualifications.
