Job Details
Responsibilities:
• Assists in daily operations of a large, fast-paced, expanding, dynamic core environment
• Responsible for daily instrument maintenance and optimization, quality control and operation of complex analytical and high-end cell sorter flow cytometers
• Interprets and reports instrument calibration errors and troubleshoots core instrumentation
• Provides operator-assisted cell sorting in direct support of all R&D teams, maintains and organizes schedules for cell sorting equipment
• Supports panel design, sample preparation, optimization and implementation of innovative flow cytometry assays, data analysis and interpretation for R&D, reprogramming biology, translational science teams, process development/analytical development and external partners
• Work with reprogramming biology team to assist in performing GMP-compliant cell sorting
• Supports instrument training, effectively communicates and provides assistance and hands-on support to new and existing facility users
• Performs maintenance of additional laboratory equipment and supply inventory for flow cytometry consumables and reagents and general laboratory organization
Qualifications
• B.S. degree or higher in General Sciences or other related field
• Minimum 2 years of general laboratory experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in a Flow Cytometry Core performing high-speed multiparameter cell sorting is preferred
• Experience using BD FACSDiva software, CytExpert, SpectroFlo, FlowJo, OMIQ, or other flow cytometry analysis software is preferred
• Experience operating a BD LSR Fortessa X-20, BD FACSAria II, Sony FX500, Beckman Coulter Cytoflex, Cytek Aurora, BD FACSCanto, or other cell analyzers/sorters is preferred
• Experience working in a GMP environment or operating under a quality system is preferred
• Ability to think critically and demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail, excellent record keeping abilities, and willingness to work in a collaborative environment are a must
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
• 100% on-site work at corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA
• Must be willing to work in a biohazardous environment (BSL-2)
• Must be able to work with high voltage equipment
• Must be willing to lift maximum of 50lbs
