Senior Manager, Trade Operations - Foster City, CA

In this role, you will develop and implement global market access strategies and value propositions for Liver assets that maximize product potential and patient access for all markets.

About this role:

This position will have responsibility to develop new product channel strategies and modifications based on ongoing market dynamics. This includes the evaluation of long-term strategic plans for the Trade and Channel accounts (Wholesalers, Specialty Distributors, Retail/Specialty Pharmacies) and the implementation of channel programs in support of individual brand and access objectives.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as an internal point-of-contact for marketing brand leads and Managed Markets Strategy and Operations leadership for demand analysis, relevant issues, questions or other matters related to Gilead's channel strategies and distribution networks

  • Partners with internal stakeholders, including Brand Market Access Leads, Trade Account Managers, Trade Operations, Government Pricing, Finance, Payer Marketing and Chargebacks in the analysis, recommendation, approval and implementation of channel strategies

  • Collaborates with Trade Contract Management and Trade Operations in the negotiation and execution of channel contracts within the approved strategy guidelines and terms

  • Identify appropriate metrics and KPIs (key performance indicators) in alignment with Trade Account Managers to help monitor and measure performance of Gilead's distribution networks and agreements; calculate and validate quarterly wholesaler scorecard in partnership with Finance

  • Attends outside meetings or conferences, as appropriate, and monitor competitive landscape to stay abreast of distribution trends, including new and existing trading partners that may impact channel strategies

  • Leads the development of reporting requirements for new and existing channels and keeps key internal partners and stakeholders abreast of distribution trends

  • Works closely with Auditing, Regulatory, Legal and other partners/stakeholders to ensure fully compliant practices, policies & procedures

  • Leverage appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain order management parameters as defined by internal policy and agreements; includes updating SOPs as required and quarterly auditing to ensure consistency with documented procedures.

    Experience and Skills:

  • 6+ years of related experience in in the biotech or pharmaceuticals industry

  • BS or BA degree

  • 4+ years of experience in Managed Markets, specifically in the development and execution of distribution networks and channel segments, including Wholesalers, Specialty Distributors, Retail and Specialty Pharmacies, Hospitals and Integrated Delivery Networks

  • Working knowledge of Managed Markets (e.g. flow of product and dollars across the distribution chain, government pricing regulations, typical contracting terms and approaches) as well as key healthcare related datasets (e.g. 867, 852)

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on cross-functional project management and issue resolution

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
