Job Summary

Amgen's 10 - 13 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. Amgen, a biotechnology pioneer, discovers, develops and delivers innovative human therapeutics. Our medicines have helped millions of patients in the fight against cancer, kidney disease, rheumatoid arthritis and other serious illnesses.

The Protein Technologies team is responsible for designing, planning, and executing on the generation of key enabling DNA and protein reagents to support discovery of small and large molecule therapeutics and cutting-edge novel modalities across Amgen's therapeutic areas.

This internship explores computational methods that leverage both sequence and structural information to design stabilizing mutations, especially at interfaces, into proteins of interest. The successful intern will implement and automate methods and then apply them to a set of test proteins for evaluation. Well-suited applicants will have an interest in protein engineering and the development computational protocols.

The intern will gain hands-on experience in protein design in an industrial setting and will have the opportunity to interact with various functions such as in Protein Technologies and Biologics, Molecular Engineering, and Discovery Analytical Sciences. This opportunity will allow the intern to see first-hand how early-stage large molecule drug development is conducted.

This internship will be conducted remotely.
