Job Details
The lab of Menno van Lookeren Campagne in the Oncology and Inflammation Research Department at Amgen is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in the field of neuro-immunology to study how cross-talk between the enteric nervous system and immune cell populations controls intestinal immunity.
The initial focus of the postdoctoral fellow is to explore what neuronal pathways in the gut control intestinal immunity. Using state-of-the-art approaches including single cell RNA-Seq, proteomics, genetic engineering and organoid systems, you will have the opportunity to identify novel regulatory neuro-immune circuits and to dissect their impact on tissue homeostasis and disease.
The postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged and expected to develop an independent line of research based on initial studies and to present at scientific conferences and publish in leading journals. The successful candidate will operate in the context of a highly collaborative environment, with ample opportunities to interact with other postdoctoral fellows, scientists, and drug discovery teams and access to state-of-the art technologies and resources.
The postdoctoral fellow will be based at our South San Francisco site and share access to state-of-the-art technology and core facilities
The postdoctoral position is for 3 years with the option to extend for an additional year.
Basic Qualifications
PhD at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Immunology, Neuroscience, Molecular Biology
- Expertise using in vivo mouse models of inflammation, multi-color flow cytometry, isolation and culture of primary cells, and/or bioinformatics analysis
- Record of independent critical thinking and the ability to design, execute, and interpret experiments, as exemplified by high quality publications
- Expertise in innate immune biology and/or neuro-immunology
